Referees

Referee Assignment Preferences
Referees indicate their preferences via the web. They indicate their willingness to work in each age group and at different positions. This allows referees to change their level of games as they gain confidence. The referee also can specify which game days he/she is available and on which teams they have children, or would prefer not to be scheduled against. This information is fed into the referee scheduling application.

Referee Scheduling
With referees keeping their own preferences up-to-date, it becomes a much easier task to assign referees. A task that used to take hours, many phone calls and much anguish due to late notice of absences is replaced by a tool that can schedule a medium-sized region in about an hour.

This is accomplished by doing all the grunt work for the Referee Scheduler. When he/she opens a game to make assignments, they are presented with a list of referees who have been pre-qualified for working this game: they are available, they are willing to work this level game, they have not already been scheduled for their maximum number of games that day, and they do not have children playing on a different field during that timeslot.

Once scheduling is complete, an e-mail message is sent to all refs informing them that scheduling is complete and they can check their work assignments via the web.

Referee Work Schedule
When a referee visits their home page they are presented with a short overview of their week. They can then confirm their assignments or alter their preferences and notify the scheduler.

They also can print a schedule to carry on game day that contains all relevant data on the games, ref team, team colors, coaches names and phone numbers, outstanding cautions and send-offs, feedback from referees who have had the teams before, etc. Nothing like being prepared for a match.

Game Cards
Following the match the referee enters the game cards and any cautions, send-offs or general comments into the system. This gives the ref team credit for the game and the region the data for building reports for coaches and division coordinators. The process takes only a couple minutes per week when referees enter their own cards, compared to hours when one unlucky soul has to collect them all and enter them into a spreadsheet, or whatever your region currently uses.

Game Logs
Time to upgrade? How many games at each level have you worked? If most of you are like me this used to be when I pulled out the dartboard and blindfold. But with WebYouthSoccer the logs are always available. And it can track games played outside your region and AYSO as well.
