Registration

Data Entry
Since we use the web rather than a single computer running WinAYSO in someone's home anyone can be granted permission to do data entry from the comfort of their own home. All they need is a web browser and an Internet connection. This allows the region to spread the load of this cumbersome task if desired and improve the timeliness of registration entry.

On-line Registration
All regions would love to do on-line registration, do away with the headaches of walk-in registration. But if you do this, how do you get your families to volunteer? In working with Region 109 in Menlo Park, California we arrived at a process that seems to work.

All parents are required to fill out their player application online. If they have chosen not to volunteer to coach or referee, they are presented with a PDF version of their player app to print and given instructions to bring it to the walk-in registration.

But if they checked the coach or ref box on the player application, they are given the opportunity to fill out the volunteer form which is also presented to them as a PDF document for printing. If the data shows this person to be a prior coach or referee volunteer, they are given instruction on mailing their signed applications, player and volunteer, to the registrar. Allowing them to by-pass the gantlet called walk-in registration.

You are not required to adopt Region 109's process. Each region controls which process is provided for on-line registration if they desire to do on-line registration at all.

Parents
"It has been three hours since I dropped off my application at registration and I still have not heard from my coach..." Parents, you have to love 'em. But from their standpoint, they are at the bottom of the information food chain. Through the WebYouthSoccer parent interface they have visibility into the progress of their children's registrations. They can download up-to-date schedules and rosters, check their volunteer commitments, etc.

The result is happier parents and the impression that your region is modern and in control, even if you are not.
